Advocacy and Education

Through organizing, educating and advocating about asylum and immigration issues, VIAA works to educate the public about our work and immigration issues in general.  By having our work anchored in the real lives, struggles and stories of our client-partners, we are able to give a human perspective to larger immigration, asylum and refugee issues. VIAA participates in school and university visits, community meetings, events, gatherings and other forums.

Part of our work is to educate other members of the legal community about immigration and asylum law.  VIAA co-facilitates at least one training a year together with the Vermont Bar Association on asylum issues, as well as other aspects of immigration law.
